During the decade of the 80’s I began painting “Public Portraits.” These oil paintings captured people in public settings – caught unawares, or sometimes looking out at the viewer. They depict scenes that anyone could see all around them - people sitting in parks, at outdoor cafes, walking along the street, or looking at art in museums. In capturing ordinary moments and people around us, these paintings show how extraordinary and beautiful our world is. People continue to be one of my favorite subjects.
