In 1997 I began painting landscapes of Galisteo, New Mexico. My husband and I were lucky enough to have a second home there and I found the expansive and ever-changing vistas of both land and sky infinitely inspiring.
I use my own photography as the basis for my paintings. What interests me most about painting is capturing the quickly changing play of light and shadow - on people, the land, or the dramatic movement of clouds and sky. Painting from photographs allows me to capture moments in time. And in painting these I’m able to explore the subtleties of light and shadow in depth.
